I am a member-elect on the board of Central Boston Elder Services (CBES), and I wanted to give you the opportunity to donate to CBES as part of this year’s Giving Tuesday event (#GivingTuesday) as part of Home Instead Senior Care Foundation’s GIVE65 program.

What is the Giving Tuesday Event?

December 1, 2020 is #GivingTuesday. GIVE65 is a crowdfunding platform exclusively devoted to helping non-profits that serve those age 65 and older raise money online. GIVE65 is holding the Giving Tuesday event to raise money for non-profit organizations that serve elders.

Donations to CBES in the Giving Tuesday Event

Contributions to CBES as part of the Giving Tuesday Event will go to its Little Necessities program. The goal is to raise $10,000 to meet the anticipated needs of CBES’s clients during the pandemic and beyond.

Examples of items granted from the Little Necessities fund include:

  • Microwaves for clients unable to use a stove
  • Railings in hallways to prevent falls
  • Air conditioners in summer to prevent asthma attacks
  • Air purifiers
  • Dentures
  • Payments to chore services to clean up apartments that have deteriorated
  • Payments for a security deposit on a new apartment
  • Mattresses for clients who would otherwise be sleeping on the floor

Whenever CBES has the opportunity to meet the needs of its clients, it tries to make a real difference. By giving to the CBES’s Little Necessities program in the Giving Tuesday event, you can make a real impact in the safety and comfort of CBES’s clients.

How to Participate in the Giving Tuesday Event

#GivingTuesday begins at 12:00 am ET on Tuesday, December 1st and concludes at 12:00 am ET on Wednesday December 2nd, 2020. Through their partnership with GIVE65, CBES has the chance to receive up to $5,000 in matching grants. Matching grants will be given on a first-come, first-matched basis – so give early!
